Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher could prove too expensive for Tottenham during this month’s January transfer window.

There’s been frequent rumours in the media linking Conor Gallagher, 23, with a potential switch across London to Spurs.

But apparently, it’s going to take a sizeable fee to get the Blues midfielder.

FootballTransfers has now claimed that Chelsea would want clubs to bid above the £60million threshold before selling Gallagher.

It is explained that Spurs are now ‘unlikely’ to sign the 23-year-old in January because they can’t spend that much in the New Year window.

Instead, the report suggests that Ange Postecoglou’s side would stall their interest and wait until the summer to move for him.

Conor Gallagher will cost £60m

For starters, we don’t want Gallagher sold under any circumstances in 2024. He’s a key player in the Blues midfield and one of the few consistent performers for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

With such little experience or leadership in the squad, Gallagher is worth at least £60m to Chelsea right now.

Speaking via talkSPORT last month, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino hailed “unbelievable” midfielder Gallagher for his influence on the team.

His contract expires in 18 months and time is ticking on a new deal, but we’d love all parties to reach an agreement to secure his stay for many years to come.

Journalist Dean Jones reported via GiveMeSport last month that Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea and people close to him believe that’s still the most likely outcome.
