Chelsea are now willing to take a huge loss on Kai Havertz as talk of the German joining Real Madrid begins to heat up.

That is according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.

So, what are the details involving Kai Havertz and Real Madrid? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – after Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia – Carlo Ancelotti is on the lookout for a new striker.

A story from Mundo Deportivo in Spain claimed that Havertz would love to leave Chelsea and is currently unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

German news outlet BILD then added that the Chelsea No.29 is close to joining Real Madrid in a ‘mega deal’ after Florentino Perez – President of the Spanish giants – and Ancelotti identified him as a dream target.

Now, Plettenburg has shared some details from Chelsea’s side of the deal.

It is said that the Blues are willing to accept as little as €50m (£43.1m) for Havertz this summer, as we are fearful of the 23-year-old refusing to extend his contract beyond 2025.

If a deal for that price went though, it would represent a £32.7m loss on the £75.8m originally invested by Chelsea when signing Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen back in September 2020.

Havertz exit could boost Chelsea hopes of signing Osimhen or Vlahovic

In our view, Havertz – who has been described as “very, very talented” – joining Real Madrid could actually make Mauricio Pochettino’s mission to find a new striker a little bit easier.

There is said to be interest in Napoli No.9 Victor Osimhen – according to 90min, who claim the Nigeria international is Chelsea’s No.1 striker target – while ESPN believe Juventus No.9 Dusan Vlahovic is also a target.

As things stand, Osimhen and Vlahovic may doubt their chances of starting every week ahead of Havertz, who is a regular up front in the XI at Chelsea.

However – with the Germany international out of the way – there would be a clear vacancy for the No.9 position at Stamford Bridge, where plenty of playing time awaits.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as we would be very surprised if Chelsea fail to replace Havertz.
