Chelsea once valued their former player at £70m, he could now be sold for just £25m

Chelsea spend a lot of money in transfer windows, and last summer was no different after they splashed the cash to bring in the likes of Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

However, the Blues are also good at making money, getting big fees for Mason Mount and Kai Havertz in 2023.

Manchester United signed Mount for an initial £55m, while Arsenal paid £65m for Havertz’s signature.

It was Havertz who scored the decisive goal in the 2021 Champions League final, but Mount also played a key role for Chelsea.

At United, however, the attacking midfielder has not been able to make the same kind of impact, and it now looks like he could be sold at a loss.

Mason Mount’s valuation has plummeted amid Inter Milan interest

Amid his struggles at United, Chelsea fans are glad the club sold Mount, who has made just four starts in the Premier League this season.

The 26-year-old has picked up some bad injuries since arriving at Old Trafford, hence his lack of game time and impact, and could now be moved on.

A report from Inter Live has suggested that Mount could be sold for just €30m (£24.8m) amid interest from Inter Milan.

Despite selling him to United for £60m in total, at one point, Chelsea actually valued the Englishman at £70m. According to BBC Sport, that was the Blues’ initial valuation of Mount before they reduced their asking price.

The above shows the decline that Mount has been on since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2023. Again, though, injuries have obviously not helped the England international.

Whatever the case, Chelsea can be happy with the fee that they got for him, especially considering the fact that his contract was expiring. At the price that he was sold for, Mount is one of Chelsea’s most expensive sales.

Chelsea should re-sign Mason Mount

If Mount really is going to be available for £25m, then Chelsea should be all over that. The Blues could find themselves in need of a new attacking midfielder, with the futures of Christopher Nkunku and Felix uncertain.

Nkunku could still stay at Chelsea, but he attracted significant interest from Bayern Munich last month, while Felix does not seem to be part of Enzo Maresca‘s plans after being allowed to join AC Milan on loan.

At his best, Mount is a No.10 who can score and create goals. Before all of his injury problems, he was excellent for the Blues.

Back in the 2021/22 Premier League season, the Chelsea academy product scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists. For less than £30m, Mount is certainly worth a punt.
