It’s going to be interesting to see how many players find themselves leaving Chelsea in the next six weeks.

The Blues had a large squad in the United States for the Club World Cup tournament, which they wrapped up at the weekend in style by beating Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Elsewhere, unwanted Chelsea players are back training at Cobham as the club look to offload them in the summer transfer window.

Villarreal make approach for Axel Disasi

According to talkSPORT, Spanish club Villarreal have approached Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, 27, over a summer transfer move.

The report claims that the Blues are hoping to earn between £25-30m for the French defender’s sale.

Disasi, who was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of last season, is heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. Even though he’s still under contract in West London until 2029, he’s tipped for an imminent exit.

Chelsea are expected to sell Disasi, who joined them from Monaco two years ago.

The versatile defender, who can play centre-half or right-back, has scored 5 goals in 61 Chelsea appearances. If he goes to Spain this summer, it will be his first experience of La Liga football after only playing in England and France so far.

According to journalist Matt Law, Chelsea’s Disasi is known to be a great character inside the changing room.

When discussing Chelsea’s Disasi, Law told the London Is Blue podcast: “I’m told he’s a very good character in the dressing room. I’m also told that as an actual centre-back, his data is pretty good. People like him as a centre-back…

“I think there are a lot of teams who would look at him as a centre-back and still be interested. I’m pretty confident that Disasi will get a club and they will actually sell him.”

It’s not a great surprise that Disasi is deemed to be a popular character. From the outside, he seems very likeable and loud with a big personality.

Unfortunately, Disasi slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea in his preferred position as a central defender, where he’s much more comfortable than at right-back.

We think the 27-year-old defender could still be a positive signing for someone at centre-back because his all-round game is strong in the heart of defence. As for Chelsea, they have a lot centre-halves that are much more suited to Enzo Maresca’s style of play.
