Chelsea could add to their central defence next year, despite already having several options there.

During the summer transfer window, Chelsea signed Tosin Adarabioyo to add to a squad that already had Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi.

However, it appears that the Blues are still looking at that area of the pitch. The club could also bring in a new striker.

It has been claimed that Chelsea could make another play for Victor Osimhen when the transfer window reopens in January.

Chelsea interested in Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah

One central defender whom Chelsea could look to sign next year is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, and they may even be able to get him for nothing.

According to Sport Bild, Chelsea are one of four Premier League clubs who are interested in Tah, whose contract expires in 2025.

The same outlet claims that Barcelona also want to sign Tah in 2025, so there could be a lot of competition for his signature.

This is not the first time that the 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. In June, it was reported that Chelsea were keen on Tah going into the summer transfer window.

What would Jonathan Tah bring to Chelsea?

Right now, Chelsea are not lacking pace in central defence thanks to Colwill and Fofana.

If the Blues do go on to sign Tah, then they will get more of that, with the German no slouch either.

“He’s physically strong and very quick,” former Germany manager Joachim Low was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga’s official website.

While Chelsea may have some interest in Tah, he does not actually seem like a likely transfer. Again, Enzo Maresca is not lacking options in his position, while it could be a real battle to land his signature, given the other clubs who are also said to be looking at the Germany international.

There is probably going to have to be an exit before Chelsea are in a position to sign Tah.
