Chelsea were one of several clubs who were interested in Nestory Irankunda before his move to Bayern Munich.
That is according to a report from 90min.
It claims that that the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona were keen on Nestory Irankunda, whom Bayern have now snapped up from Adelaide United.

The 17-year-old winger will only officially make the move to the Bundesliga champions in February because of FIFA’s rules on international transfers for players under the age of 18.
Bayern have not been afraid to look outside of Europe for talent, bringing in Alphonso Davies from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps. The left-back is currently being linked with a switch to Chelsea as his contract continues to run down.
Chelsea have enough young attackers
Looking at Chelsea’s transfer policy under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, we are sure that the club would have loved to snap up a prodigy like Irankunda.
However, the fact that the Blues have been recruiting so many young players recently means that missing out on Bayern’s new signing is not end of the world stuff.
For example, Chelsea recently bought 18-year-old Angelo Gabriel, who is currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. Developing in one of Europe’s top divisions, maybe the young Brazilian could be ready for the Blues’ first-team soon.
It is not impossible, though you would imagine that he will need another loan or two before he can be integrated into Mauricio Pochettino‘s senior squad. But the point still stands. Chelsea have enough young attackers.
Let us not forget that the likes of Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk are not exactly old men either. The former is still 21, while the latter is only one year older. Make no mistake, Chelsea have attackers for the future so can move on from losing the race for Irankunda.
