Inter Milan are now set to spend money from the sale of Marcelo Brozovic on a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

That is according to Tutto Mercato Web.

So, what is the latest on Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, a story from the Mirror claimed that Chelsea were willing to take a £63.5m loss on the Belgian and let him leave for £34m as the Blues desperately try to offload him.

Matt Law of the Telegraph has since told the London is Blue podcast that nobody at Chelsea wants Lukaku to stay at Stamford Bridge next season, in fear of him bringing negative energy to west London.

The 30-year-old only wants to join Inter Milan, despite having an offer on the table from Saudi Arabia, although the Italian giants have been unable to cough up the cash so far.

Inter Milan have proposed another season-long loan deal with a £26m obligation to buy next summer, although the Evening Standard believe Chelsea are against that due to FIFA’s new limit on loans. The Blues would rather use their seven slots on development loans for youngsters, rather than senior players.

However, the end of this transfer saga now looks to be in sight.

Tutto Mercato Web believe Inter Milan have sold Brozovic to Al-Nassr for €18m (£15m) and will now put that money towards a permanent deal for Lukaku.

The Italian news outlet add that a new meeting is set to take place between Chelsea and Inter Milan next week, where both parties will hope to strike an agreement.

Lukaku leaving Chelsea could spark more incomings

After the signing of Nicolas Jackson was announced, Chelsea could be set to confirm more incomings once Lukaku leaves.

The Belgium international’s remarkable £350,000-a-week wages will finally be off the salary bill, and a £34m transfer fee should arrive, meaning Chelsea have plenty of financial flexibility to make more signings.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Stamford Bridge, as July should see plenty of incomings after June focused mostly on outgoings.
