Chelsea are now beginning to get several players out on loan this summer, which is essential with such a large squad of players.
Interestingly, the Blues are now linked with loaning out someone who spent last season as a first-team star.
Enzo Maresca has arrived at Stamford Bridge as the club’s new head coach and he’s slowly beginning to make his mark on the group this summer. It’s been reported by BBC Sport that Chelsea’s players are optimistic so far under Maresca.
Chelsea have already loaned out the likes of Dylan Williams, Andrey Santos and Alfie Gilchrist for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign. How many more will we see leave before the summer window closes, though?

Chelsea looking to find Djordje Petrovic a loan move
According to BBC Sport, Chelsea have started searching the market to find their goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic a suitable loan deal.
It is explained that the 24-year-old, who finished last season as the Blues’ number one keeper, is now deemed surplus to requirements. Instead, Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez will move forward as Chelsea’s main goalkeepers.
The report says that Strasbourg, who are owned by the same ownership group as Chelsea, hold an interest in signing Petrovic on loan. In fact, the French top-flight club believe he’d be the ‘perfect option’ as their starting goalkeeper next season.
On top of that, Italian side Fiorentina also want to sign the Blues gloveman on loan.
Djordje Petrovic can count himself unfortunate
In fairness, Petrovic performed well in Chelsea’s first team last year during his first experience of English football. He ended up winning the battle for the starting position and recording seven clean sheets in 31 Blues appearances.
Unfortunately, he’s been one of the main casualties so far from the change of management this summer.
The £14m man (Sky Sports) is quite a well-rounded goalkeeper, but Maresca’s got a reputation of wanting to really play out from the back at all costs.
It’s been claimed by The Athletic that Chelsea think Petrovic’s valuation has gone up in the last year. It would be interesting to see whether there’s a negative or positive impact on that from a year out on loan.
Regardless, the Serbian can’t be sitting in the reserves this year and needs to go play first-team football to build on a decent time last season.
