One European club are reportedly eyeing a late swoop to sign a Chelsea midfielder this week.

The summer transfer window may have closed in the Premier League last month, but it’s remained open for plenty of others divisions as clubs continue to conduct business.

For example, Blues striker David Datro Fofana has been strongly linked with a move to Greek club AEK Athens in September. However, journalist Nizaar Kinsella now reports via X that Fofana’s potential transfer to AEK Athens is considered off.

There’s now fresh reports that suggest Turkish giants Galatasaray have set their sights on a Chelsea player. Incidentally, the transfer window closes in Turkey this Friday, so they’ve got just a few days left to try get this deal done.

Galatasaray keen on Carney Chukwuemeka

According to TEAMtalk, Galatasaray are interested in signing Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka before the Turkish transfer window shuts on Friday.

It is explained that the Super Lig club have now turned their attention to the 20-year-old Blues midfielder, who is yet to make an appearance this season and appears to be quite far down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.

The report explains that Chelsea were open to offers for their £20m attacking midfielder (BBC) in the summer.

Now, Galatasaray’s biggest obstacle is set to be persuading Chukwuemeka to join them in Istanbul.

What should Carney Chukwuemeka do?

If Galatasaray offer Chukwuemeka regular first-team minutes, it’ll be interesting to see if the Englishman is tempted into a remarkable late move this week.

The Chelsea youngster certainly has a lot of competition for places in the current squad at Stamford Bridge, but we believe he could still offer something this season. Therefore, it would be great for him to stay and force his way into Maresca’s plans because he’s a talented box-to-box midfielder.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently told GiveMeSport that Chelsea are now prepared to give Chukwuemeka the chance to impress them. If he fails, they’d always be open to moving him on in 2025.

The late arrival of Galatasaray certainly makes it an interesting story to follow in the next few days, though.
