Chelsea were still pushing to make sales in the coming days despite their own transfer window being closed.
Despite a busy summer and a deadline day that saw a number of their frozen out players moved on, they did not get all the business done that they wanted in terms of outgoings.
They have moved on Angelo Gabriel to Saudi Arabia, with them managing to turn a profit on his signing despite him never playing a competitive game.
There are a number of other individuals who Enzo Maresca has no plans to include this season, and some transfer windows around the world of football remain open.
One of those is David Datro Fofana, who spent last season on loan at Burnley. Despite their relegation, Vincent Kompany described him as ‘outstanding’.

Chelsea’s sale of David Datro Fofana currently off
There were reports that they were in talks to sell Fofana in the coming days, however that plan may have hit a roadblock.
Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that the sale of him to AEK Athens can be considered off at this stage, with their window shutting tomorrow night.
He said: “David Datro Fofana’s move to AEK Athens is currently considered off. The Greek club has struggled to meet Chelsea’s terms for the striker and Maccabi Haifa’s Frantzdy Pierrot being considered as an alternative. The transfer window in Greece closes on Wednesday night.”
With there being no talk of a loan deal, it could be a campaign of no football for Fofana with the club heading a different direction.
Ben Chilwell frozen out by Chelsea
Ben Chilwell is a more experienced player who also seems to have no future at the club.
The former vice-captain is yet to make a matchday squad this season, and has not been included in the squad for the group stages of the Conference League.
There are efforts being made to move him on, however again that does not look likely to be completed.
