Chelsea wanted to sign a top centre-forward during the summer but were not able to in the end.
Chelsea looked at several names, including Victor Osimhen, who is still being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another striker whom Chelsea were said to be interested in, but he decided to remain in Germany.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, at one point, Sesko was actually contemplating joining Chelsea.

RB Leipzig prepared to sell Benjamin Sesko
While Sesko wanted to stay at Leipzig in the summer, it looks like he could be on the move in the future.
According to GiveMeSport, Sesko has a verbal agreement with Leipzig to leave the club next summer if he wants to.
The same outlet claims that the Bundesliga outfit are willing to sell the 21-year-old for £50m, though he could wait until 2026 before making his next move.
It was recently reported that Chelsea still have Sesko on their shortlist. He has scored two goals in seven league appearances for Leipzig this season.
Benjamin Sesko should not replace Nicolas Jackson
Sesko is definitely a forward with a lot of potential. He has already been hailed as a “special player” by Leipzig’s former technical director Christopher Vivell, with the Bundesliga’s official website relaying his praise.
As of now, though, it does not look like the Slovenian would be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, who has been on fire this season.
The 23-year-old just scored against Liverpool and has netted five times in total in the Premier League. Only teammate Cole Palmer, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland have more goals than him in the top flight.
Ultimately, if Jackson can continue scoring goals from now until the end of the campaign, then there will be no reason for Chelsea to sign Sesko, unless Christopher Nkunku departs and leaves Enzo Maresca a bit short up front.
