Well – according to The Athletic – Chelsea are in talks with Marseille over a deal for the Gabon international, and negotiations are going well.

However, it is said that the French giants are struggling to afford Aubameyang’s £160,000-a-week wages in addition to Chelsea’s demand for a transfer fee.

Now – as detailed by 90min – the Chelsea No.9’s representatives are keeping their options open, amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia as well as Barcelona.

90min state that clubs in Saudi Arabia are willing to give Chelsea a transfer fee and also pick up the £10m man’s hefty wages, which represents the best outcome for the Blues.

However, Aubameyang – who Mikel Arteta once called an “exceptional” footballer – is believed to be unsure about a move to the Saudi Pro League, and wants to remain in Europe.

Pochettino wants Chelsea to sell Aubameyang

90min add that Aubameyang’s agents will try to finalise his departure while Chelsea are on tour of the United States for pre-season, which will please Mauricio Pochettino.

According to the Telegraph, the 34-year-old is part of a four-man group who Pochettino wants out of Stamford Bridge, with Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic also on the list.

The latter has since joined AC Milan in a deal worth £19m, although Lukaku’s expected move to Inter Milan has broken down after he signalled a willingness to join Juventus instead.

There is no denying that Chelsea’s squad remains full of deadwood which needs to be offloaded, so hopefully, Aubameyang’s agents can secure him a move before the Blues return from the United States.
