Chelsea are showing no signs of slowing down in this transfer window as they weigh up a move for one 18-year-old.

Before then, Chelsea will be expected to finalise the signing of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

Jorgensen was due for his Chelsea medical yesterday, so his arrival should be announced shortly. The club are also closing in on Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino.

Like with Jorgensen, Chelsea also assessed Anselmino’s health yesterday ahead of his transfer.

It seems, though, that the Blues are not going to stop at Jorgensen and Anselmino.

Chelsea considering signing Mike Penders

Chelsea have goalkeepers for the present and the future. They currently have Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic in their first-team squad, while 20-year-old Gabriel Slonina is also on their books.

The Blues are about to bring in Jorgensen as well, but that has not stopped them from looking at another shot-stopper.

In fact, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are already in talks to sign Genk’s Mike Penders.

On X, the Italian journalist posted: “Chelsea are considering a move for 2005 born GK Mike Penders. Talks are ongoing with Genk.”

Penders is only 18 — he actually turns 19 tomorrow — but is an absolute giant already, standing at 6’7″.

Filip Jorgensen likely to become Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper

As Romano stated, Penders is definitely going to be one for the future. The Belgian is still quite young and Chelsea already have a few goalkeepers in their squad.

Therefore, you would expect Penders to go out on loan if Chelsea do sign him, while Jorgensen eventually becomes the No.1 at Stamford Bridge.

Sanchez is still, of course, at the club. But the fact that Chelsea feel they need to go out and buy Jorgensen despite bringing Sanchez in only a year ago suggests that the former will probably end up as Enzo Maresca‘s first-choice goalkeeper at some point.

As for the shot-stopper who finished last season as the Blues’ No.1, Chelsea clearly have doubts about Petrovic as well. If that were not the case, then the club would be going into the new campaign with the Serbian remaining as their first-choice goalie.
