Fabrizio Romano claims European club will try to sign ‘world-class’ Chelsea player this week

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Chelsea could sell one of their forwards this week.

Chelsea need to trim down their squad, especially after signing Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers and making a move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.

Chelsea are in discussions over signing Felix, whose arrival could potentially pave the way for an attacker or two to leave west London.

Whether Felix arrives at Stamford Bridge or not, one player who definitely looks to be heading for the exit door is Romelu Lukaku.

Napoli set to make fresh move for Romelu Lukaku

Napoli have had no success with bringing Lukaku to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium yet. However, the Serie A club are not giving up.

According to Romano, Napoli will contact Chelsea again this week in their bid to finally land the striker.

Speaking on his YouTube channel on Sunday, the Italian journalist said: “Napoli, next week [this week], are prepared to get in touch with Chelsea again to try and reach an agreement and bring Romelu Lukaku to Antonio Conte.”

Kepa Arrizabalaga is another player on Napoli’s radar, so two Chelsea stars could end up joining Conte’s team this summer.

Chelsea should offer Romelu Lukaku to Atletico Madrid as part of Joao Felix deal

If Chelsea want Felix and Napoli do not want to pay up for Lukaku, then maybe the Blues should consider offering their Belgium international to Atletico in a swap deal.

Atletico’s priority for the centre-forward position right now is Julian Alvarez, but it is hard to imagine Diego Simeone saying no to a forward like Lukaku if a deal is feasible.

“He’s a world-class striker,” former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was once quoted as saying by The Independent when discussing Lukaku.

Lukaku has perhaps not been at that level for a while, but the 31-year-old is still a top centre-forward and with a bit of love from an elite coach like Simeone, perhaps he could get close to it again.

From Chelsea’s perspective, they just need to try and find a way to offload Lukaku now. He will want a reunion with Conte, but Napoli are yet to give Chelsea a reason to make it happen.
