Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is a target for Chelsea and the Blues could sign him before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea are considering signing Victor Osimhen on loan, though doing such a deal will not be straightforward.

While Chelsea are yet to address their centre-forward issue, the club have at least been able to strengthen at the back this summer.

The Blues confirmed the signing of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal on Tuesday, with the 22-year-old coming in to compete for the spot between the sticks.

Central defender Tosin Adarabioyo has also arrived at Stamford Bridge, leaving Fulham on a free transfer.

Victor Osimhen’s stance on Chelsea loan

Chelsea signing Osimhen on loan with an option to buy could be a genius move.

However, it is something that is unlikely to happen, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has claimed that neither Osimhen nor his agent like the idea of a loan move to Chelsea this summer.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said: “This loan with buy option, it’s something that the agent and the player don’t want to consider today. What happens tomorrow, I don’t know. I’m not involved in the story, but today, they don’t want to consider a loan.”

In terms of a permanent deal, Napoli want £84m minimum for Osimhen, which is less than the 25-year-old’s release clause.

Why Victor Osimhen is not interested in joining Chelsea on loan

Without an obligation to buy, Osimhen joining Chelsea on loan would mean there is a possibility of him returning to Napoli next summer.

However, the Nigerian is clearly looking to move on from the Italian club, so it makes sense that he is looking for a permanent deal.

The problem is, though, Chelsea’s owners clearly do not want to pay the sort of figures Napoli are demanding for his signature this summer.

Osimhen remains open to joining Chelsea, but right now there seems to be a lot of barriers preventing a deal from happening.

There is still a whole month in the transfer window to go, though. It is not impossible that Osimhen eventually does go on to sign for Chelsea, but a lot of things will need to happen first.
