Marc Cucurella has been linked with a move to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United.
It has been claimed that United are considering swooping for Cucurella, who is also attracting a lot of interest from Spain.
Following links with Michael Carrick’s side, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the left-back.
Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella? 🫵
Andrea Cambiaso is the latest player to be linked.
Marc Cucurella more likely to leave Chelsea for Spanish club than Manchester United
While a Cucurella departure is starting to become increasingly likely, the good news for Chelsea supporters is that they will probably not have to watch him playing for a rival next season.
According to Romano, a move to Spain is more probable than a switch to United or another Premier League club.
Discussing Cucurella’s future on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert said: “Keep an eye on the Cucurella situation. Spain could be more concrete, according to my information, rather than links with English clubs.”
If Cucurella does leave Chelsea this summer, the club may not need to buy a starting left-back to replace him.
Chelsea have a lot of faith in Jorrel Hato, who can play at both left-back and centre-back. It means the Blues may just have to find a cover option for the position, which should not cost too much money.
Cucurella could be one of several exits at Stamford Bridge in the transfer window. Gabriel Slonina has already been told he can leave after failing to make a single appearance in a blue shirt.

Chelsea selling Marc Cucurella to Manchester United would be a big mistake
Cucurella was not at his best last season, especially after Enzo Maresca’s departure. However, he is still one of the top full-backs in the country.
What’s happened to Marc Cucurella’s one-v-one defending?
He was terrorised by Nottingham Forest's Dilane Bakwa
Considering that, it would be silly for Chelsea to sell Cucurella to United. They would be strengthening one of their rivals for the top four and handing over one of their most experienced pros.
This Chelsea squad is not blessed with experience, so they should not be too quick to offload the 27-year-old. And if the Blues are forced to sell him, United are the last club they should be selling to.
