When Manchester United are linked with one of Chelsea’s players, the mind instinctively leaps towards Cole Palmer. Now, there is another Chelsea star on Man United’s summer shortlist.

Over the last six months, Palmer has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford despite Chelsea placing a £150m price tag on Palmer’s head. Indeed, Chelsea have made Palmer largely untouchable.

Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella?

He hasn't ruled out a Chelsea exit…

Julien Laurens says any interested parties will struggle to afford Palmer, whether that is Man United or even Bayern Munich and PSG. The Chelsea star has endured a tricky season, contending with injury.

There is hope that after three summers without a break, his World Cup omission may get the best out of Palmer, and that will be a reason for Chelsea keeping him. But Man United want another Chelsea player.

Manchester United join race to sign Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella

Man United are moving early this summer. Ederson, who is set to replace the injured Wesley in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, has completed a move from Atalanta. Now, they want a new left-back.

According to Marca, Man United are one of four European heavyweights considering a move to sign Marc Cucurella. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona’s interest will come as no surprise to Blues fans this summer.

Real Madrid have also been touted as a suitor for the ex-Brighton star. United want a new left-back with Luke Shaw’s injury issues, Patrick Dorgu’s position change and Tyrell Malacia’s form opening a hole.

There is no doubt that Cucurella is considering his future. His comments in March made that obvious, and reports since have suggested that Cucurella is now actively pursuing a Chelsea exit in the coming months.

It is believed that Cucurella would prefer a return to his home nation, and if Barcelona come calling, then it feels like there is little doubt as to Cucurella’s future. Cucurella came through La Masia’s academy.

But Barcelona seem focused on other positions. Anthony Gordon has joined; a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford remains a possibility, and a new striker is needed at Nou Camp to replace Robert Lewandowski.

But actually, Man United have also been linked with Andrey Santos. The Brazilian midfielder was omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad and remains a rotational player at Stamford Bridge currently.

Clearly, Man United feel they can raid Chelsea this summer, and perhaps understandably. With Chelsea lacking any European football and Man United back in the Champions League, the threat remains.
