Chelsea ended up signing a lot of players in the summer transfer window, and it looks as if the London club are still on the hunt with Fabrizio Romano providing an update.

Enzo Maresca really can’t complain with the squad Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have built him over the summer at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea boss welcomed 11 new players to the club, which included the big money signings of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

However, the Blues weren’t able to sign a prolific striker to give Nicolas Jackson a run for his money.

Chelsea did try to sign Victor Osimhen on deadline day but that deal didn’t materialise and he now plays his football over in Turkey for the time being.

Osimhen isn’t the only striker Chelsea may have their eyes on, as Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on a different player.

Enzo Maresca will be glad that Nicolas Jackson has started to find his feet at Stamford Bridge, as failing to sign a reliable striker on deadline day could’ve been fatal.

Fabrizio Romano is the go-to man when it comes to transfer news, and he happens to have been given an update on ‘rumours’ that have been circulating involving Chelsea.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has given an update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Jhon Duran after ‘rumours’ started circulating.

“We are having rumors on several clubs guys. I can tell you that West Ham wanted him, and Chelsea I can confirm that they really tried to sign Jhon Duran.

“Chelsea rate the player, Chelsea still like the player. In this moment there are no active contacts ongoing, so it’s not something that we can definitely say for now for John Duran, but the appreciation is still there.

“Because Chelsea in June really tried to sign Jhon Duran, the deal was quite advanced between the clubs with Conor Gallagher as part of the deal, then Gallagher rejected to go to Aston Villa, and so the deal collapsed.

“Chelsea tried to find different ways, but Aston Villa always said no, 50 million pounds or nothing, and then nothing happened, but Jhon Duran remains appreciated by Chelsea.”

Jhon Duran’s season to date for Aston Villa

One positive for Enzo Maresca is that it came out the other day that Aston Villa are supposedly open to selling Jhon Duran if the right offer arrives.

The Colombian has been on fire for the Villans in the current campaign, constantly saving them from vulnerable positions with goals out of nowhere.

He currently has four goals in five Premier League games despite only playing 131 minutes.

At just 20 years go age, he fits perfectly into Chelsea’s transfer strategy.

Chelsea already have the likes of Willian Estevao and Kendry Paez, so to add another fine South American talent could be huge for their future.
