The idea of Chelsea re-signing Fikayo Tomori during this transfer window is something that had been mentioned.
Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace to help ease the club’s injury crisis at the back.
But before that, other centre-halves were being linked to Enzo Maresca‘s team, including Chalobah’s former Palace teammate Marc Guehi. Nothing materialised, though, and Chelsea could now sign Guehi in the summer instead.
Another ex-Chelsea player, Tomori, had also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Fikayo Tomori happy to stay at AC Milan
Under Paulo Fonseca, Tomori had lost his place in the team at AC Milan. But following the appointment of Sergio Conceicao, he has been restored to the starting XI.
According to talkSPORT, the 27-year-old now wants to remain at the San Siro in a potential blow to Chelsea.
Tomori could have been an option to replace Axel Disasi, who could join Aston Villa before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Disasi is keen on moving to Villa as the Frenchman looks to get more game time after being overlooked by Maresca this season.

Fikayo Tomori was offered to Chelsea
Chelsea were reportedly offered the chance to re-sign Tomori during this transfer window.
It was suggested that the Blues would not prioritise Tomori unless Disasi departed, which could now happen.
However, it looks like the Tomori ship has sailed, with the England international seemingly happy to remain where he is.
At this point, it would be a bit of a surprise if Chelsea went on to sign another central defender. They could wait until the summer when Guehi is available, especially with Chalobah giving Maresca another body following his return from Palace.
In an interview with the BBC (via SempreMilan), former Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis described Tomori’s 2021/22 season as “extraordinary”. The Italian giants have really helped him to develop into a good defender, so it is no surprise that his preference is to remain with them.
