Chelsea are now viewed as favourites to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest after missing out on Michael Olise.

That is according to Ryan Taylor of the Express.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Brennan Johnson? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Guardian – Chelsea are keen to sign the Wales international as Mauricio Pochettino aims to strengthen his attack.

A separate story from the Independent claimed that Nottingham Forest have requested £40m to sell Johnson – with Tottenham and Brentford also interested.

Now – however – Chelsea have been described as the frontrunners to sign the Welshman ahead of Spurs and the Bees.

Taylor believes the Blues are fronting the queue for the 22-year-old’s signature due to the fact Chelsea own players Steve Cooper would like at Nottingham Forest, including Ian Maatsen.

Johnson – whose excellent displays caused David Beckham to write “what a player” after Nottingham Forest were promoted – scored eight goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season to help Cooper’s side avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Brennan Johnson to Chelsea could see Armando Broja leave

In our view, the potential arrival of Johnson could lead to Armando Broja departing Stamford Bridge.

A story from Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that AC Milan would love to sign the Albania international.

Jose Mourinho and Roma are also keen to snap up Broja before transfer deadline day – according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

As the 21-year-old aims to bounce back from his serious knee injury, he surely won’t be willing to sit on the bench behind Nicolas Jackson and Johnson.

Therefore, an exit could be on for Broja if Chelsea and Nottingham Forest strike a deal in the coming weeks.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we expect plenty more to happen at Stamford Bridge in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
