Matheus Cunha will seemingly not be joining Chelsea in this transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano gave the ‘here we go’ seal of approval for the 23-year-old’s move from Atletico Madrid to Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan.
Wolves have an option to sign Cunha permanently from somewhere in the region of £34m and £43m.
Newly appointed manager Julian Lopetegui has taken over the Premier League’s lowest scorers, so is in need of desperate extra firepower.
Unfortunately, Lopetegui’s employers might have picked the wrong man to shoot them to survival.
In 17 appearances for Atletico this season, Cunha hasn’t scored a single goal.

He’s actually only hit the back of the net seven times since joining the Spanish club last summer.
On this evidence, perhaps Chelsea have dogged a bullet.
Matheus Cunha is not Chelsea bound
Atletico had reportedly offered their striker to Todd Boehly before Wolves snapped him up.
They clearly identified Graham Potter’s need for another forward as a way to get rid of their stuttering number nine.
Cunha’s club mate Joao Felix was also apparently presented to Boehly, although the likelihood of him heading to Stamford Bridge is also slim.
Instead, the Chelsea owner has looked to the future by sealing the signings of Christopher Nkunku and David Datro Fofana.

However, Potter is in need of support in the present.
Armando Broja’s injury means Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the only recognised figure to lead the line.
Cunha clearly won’t be the solution, as he prepares to potentially line-up against Chelsea at the start of April.
