How Declan Rice could block Chelsea from signing one of their primary targets

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice could get more revenge on Chelsea this summer.

Rice was released by Chelsea when he was a child, but he helped Arsenal to defeat the Blues on three occasions last season and win the Premier League title.

While the 27-year-old and the Gunners got their hands on the title, Chelsea finished 10th and failed to qualify for the Champions League. Ultimately, Rice will feel that he has had the last laugh.

Declan Rice trying to convince Morgan Rogers to join Arsenal

Rice could inflict even more misery on Chelsea by getting in the way of their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Rogers is one of Chelsea’s key targets for this transfer window, but there is a good chance that he ends up at the Emirates instead of Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal are also keen on the attacking midfielder, and according to the Daily Mail, Rice is trying to convince him to join the Gunners.

Rice and Rogers are both part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad and featured in the Three Lions’ 4-2 World Cup win against Croatia.

Next up for the duo and Chelsea captain Reece James, who is also representing England at this year’s World Cup, is a clash versus Ghana.

Rogers would be a great addition to Xabi Alonso’s squad. He can play behind the striker or on the left and has some very good attacking attributes.

Rogers is an attacker who can score goals and create them, while he also has the athleticism and technical skill to drive with the ball and take it into dangerous areas.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, though, whether Rice is in his ears or not, a move to Arsenal just seems way more likely.

They are the Premier League title holders and made it to the Champions League final last term, which they could have easily won. Chelsea are nowhere near that level, and there are no signs to suggest that they are going to get any closer to it next season.
