How likely Chelsea now are to sign Victor Osimhen this summer

Chelsea’s transfer window has already been an extremely busy one, but could there still be any more arrivals this summer?

The Blues have signed attacking options such as Joao Felix and Pedro Neto in recent weeks, but Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is a striker frequently linked with a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this week that Chelsea are still keen on signing Osimhen, but they need to know they can sell players before advancing with any kind of transfer. It makes sense when there’s so many individuals still on the books, with many now training away from the first-team squad.

Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea are planning a loan bid late this summer for Osimhen. Incidentally, the transfer window closes on 30 August this year.

Chelsea unlikely to get Victor Osimhen this month

According to The Athletic on Thursday morning, Chelsea’s chances of signing Napoli frontman Osimhen are currently not too positive.

The report states that the possibility of the 25-year-old joining the Blues in this window is ‘remote as things stand’.

It is claimed that Enzo Maresca’s side are only prepared to sign the Serie A centre-forward on loan, but both Napoli and the player himself aren’t keen on that idea.

Can the Blues cope without him?

If Chelsea fail to sign Osimhen this month, many will be concerned that this season could be very similar to the last.

Nicolas Jackson, who scored 17 goals across all competitions last campaign, is the main centre-forward in the current Blues squad. But is he good enough to lead the line for Chelsea and hit a 20-plus goal season?

Osimhen, who’s scored 76 goals in 133 Napoli appearances, is exactly what’s needed at Stamford Bridge as a final piece of the jigsaw. Therefore, missing out on his signature could lead to Chelsea supporters enduring another frustrating campaign in front of goal, especially if Cole Palmer can’t repeat his heroics from last year.
