Chelsea loaned out Marc Guiu and recalled him back in the same summer transfer window.
In August, Premier League club Sunderland confirmed the signing of Marc Guiu from Chelsea on a season-long loan. However, the 19-year-old striker has now returned to Stamford Bridge because the Blues confirmed on deadline day they have recalled him.
After Liam Delap picked up an injury against Fulham over the weekend, Enzo Maresca’s side reacted by adding extra cover in the No.9 position.
Guiu, who scored one goal in his three appearances for Sunderland across all competitions, is now returning to Chelsea’s first-team squad. Let’s hope the Spanish centre-forward gets plenty of minutes in the coming months after disrupting their season in chaotic fashion.
Even after leaving on loan, Guiu was still in Chelsea’s long-term plans; it’s just worked out that he’s needed sooner than expected.

Marc Guiu has handled Chelsea recall superbly well
Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported via X that Chelsea’s surprise decision to recall Guiu has been “handled professionally” by the player himself.
Without a doubt, the teenage centre-forward deserves a great backing from the Blues fanbase after returning. It can’t be easy for him to move again so quickly after just settling in the North East.
Chelsea fans actually asked for Guiu to be recalled, and they’ve now got their wish.
He looked impressive when he played for Maresca’s team last season, particularly in the Conference League, but he’s still a work in progress as a young talent.

Marc Guiu reacts on Instagram to Sunderland departure
Guiu uploaded a heartfelt message to the Sunderland fanbase after a short but sweet spell at the Stadium of Light.
The only consolation for the youngster may be that he failed to start in any of Sunderland’s league matches so far. Also, the Black Cats were eliminated in the second round of the Carabao Cup, so we were getting a bit worried about his lack of minutes.
With Delap out injured, Guiu should be in line for a chance at Chelsea, especially because versatile attacker Joao Pedro is thriving in a deeper role.
