Chelsea fans have now been told that a move to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG this summer is not gaining much momentum at this moment in time.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what are the details involving Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Times – PSG are expecting a bid from Chelsea after putting the France international up for sale.

If you hadn’t already heard, the French champions are keen to sell Mbappe this summer, as they fear he already has an agreement to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year.

Understandably, PSG do not want to lose the 24-year-old for nothing.

However – at this point in time – it seems Chelsea will not be signing the Frenchman.

Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “We had rumours of a bid from Chelsea. Guys, I am told there is absolutely nothing at this point. This is for many reasons. Not having Champions League football, also about Financial Fair Play, also the player’s will. At the moment, sources at Chelsea believe that there is nothing concrete with Kylian Mbappe.”

Chelsea situation on Mbappe could change

While some Chelsea fans may be upset by Romano’s update, the situation could still change.

Many expect Mbappe to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia after PSG received a world-record £259m bid from the Saudi Pro League side, who are offering the striker a contract worth £605m-a-year.

However, if the PSG No.7 decides to stay in Europe, then it could open a door for Chelsea to swoop in.

Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports claimed that PSG would prefer to send Mbappe to a side like Chelsea or Tottenham, purely because the Premier League duo are not competing against them in the Champions League.

Therefore, it is certainly worth keeping an eye on the Mbappe saga this summer, as anything could happen.
