In-form striker once said it was his dream to play for Chelsea, now Boehly could be about to sign him

Todd Boehly is reportedly about to make his first acquisition of the January transfer window weeks before it even opens.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana.

He has claimed that there is a full agreement between the Blues and Molde over a deal for over £8.5m.

While the name may not race to the top of many minds when considering striker options in January, when looking into his season so far it is clear to see he is in good form.

The striker has 15 goals and five assists in the Eliteserien this season, whilst also scoring twice in the Conference League.

Fofana dreaming of Chelsea

A video has emerged on Twitter of the striker being asked a set of questions regarding who he would like to play for if a Premier League move came to fruition.

He said: I don’t know why, but I want to play for Chelsea. They’re a very good team, very good. It’s in my heart.”

The Blues have entered the race for a striker after seeing one of their only options ruled out for the rest of the season.

Armando Broja was stretchered off the pitch during the friendly against Aston Villa, and his worst fears were realised when the diagnosis for his knee injury came in.

With the Blues still reportedly set to bring in Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, it may have been difficult to convince a striker to join the club with it being common news that they want to sign the Frenchman to be a crucial first team player.

However, the club should be praised for the ability to convince an in-form striker to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, assuming personal terms are agreed.
