Joao Felix’s ‘close relationship’ with key AC Milan figure could be driving force behind Chelsea exit

There could be a number of Chelsea exits on deadline day, with Joao Felix potential being one of them.

Enzo Maresca is reportedly not a fan of Felix which has been shown by the Portuguese’s limited minutes so far this season.

This lack of game time has seen the attacker be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Aston Villa interested in signing Felix.

But with Unai Emery’s side signing Marcus Rashford instead, it now seems the Chelsea attacker could now be heading elsewhere, with Italian giants AC Mian keen on landing his signature.

Felix reportedly wants to join AC Milan with one key reason in particular potentially playing a part in his desire to move to Serie A.

Joao Felix has good relationship with AC Milan boss Sergio Conceicao

Milan are said to be confident in signing Felix before the transfer deadline and that could be down to Sergio Conceicao’s strong relationship with the Chelsea forward.

Felix is said to have a ‘close relationship’ with Conceicao’s son Rodrigo, having played with each other for the Benfica youth sides.

Speaking in 2019, Felix revealed that he has been on holiday with the Conceicao family in the past.

“In the first year I came to Benfica, I stayed in the room with Rodrigo. Since then I have created a very close relationship with him. Last holiday I was there with him, he is a 5-star person,” (via Record).

After being defeated by Felix’s Benfica side in 2019 with FC Porto, now Milan boss Sergio Conceicao even joked that Felix had to pay for their next holiday.

“The player in question (Felix) was at my house last year on holiday. I have no problem, he can come back again. He just has to pay for the trip. Breakfast and lunch are no problem,” (as per Record).

Felix spotted in Milan ahead of potential deadline day move

With just hours to go until the window shuts, it seems like Felix is trying his best to push through a move to Serie A – following news that the Chelsea man was spotted attending the Milan derby on Sunday.

Clearly desperate to leave Stamford Bridge, it would probably be best for both Felix and Chelsea to go their separate ways whether that be temporarily or permanently.

Having handed the Portuguese a seven-year contract in the summer, this seems like yet another transfer mistake Chelsea are going to have to deal with.
