Journalist Matt Law has claimed on Twitter that Enzo Fernandez is scheduled to arrive in England today ahead of the official announcement of his transfer to Chelsea.

The Blues fought until the end to secure the Argentinian international for what turned out to be a British transfer record fee.

They faced tough negotiators in Benfica, and it looked as if earlier in the window the two sides were not going to come to an agreement.

However, they returned with strong interest in the final few days of January, before making a breakthrough with the Portuguese side with minutes to go.

The 22-year-old’s performances at the World Cup will certainly give the Blues hope that they have signed a top player. He picked up the award for the young player of the tournament on route to winning the whole thing.

Chelsea preparing Fernandez announcement

Now, fans will just be waiting for the official announcement from the club for the deal that has put the final touches on what has been a sensational January.

In similar style to when Mykhailo Mudryk joined the club, the social media channels have begun to hint at the addition of an Argentinian is coming.

Fernandez and Mudryk have joined Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix as big-money additions in January, as the club have attempted a sensational mid-season rebuild.

They have continued to keep an eye towards the future too, with the additions of the likes of Andrey Santos. The midfielder is currently enjoying a sensational campaign with Brazil at the U20 South American Championships.
