Sky journalist Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that a source from the Enzo Fernandez deal was agreed before the Fabrizio Romano announcement.

The Blues have reportedly made the 22-year-old their last addition to what has been a sensational summer transfer window.

The likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix have been brought in to revolutionise the attack which had been seriously lacking goals.

However, a midfielder was an absolute must to bring in, especially after they allowed Jorginho to make the move to Arsenal.

With only a few months left on his contract and no guarantees on him extending his stay, the Blues were happy to accept a £12m offer.

Now, it has been widely claimed they have had a deal accepted from Benfica after fierce negotiations.

Solhekol has claimed that although there is a rush to get the documents in, the Blues actually agreed the deal an hour in advance.

He said: “We said that a deal to Chelsea has been agreed in principle, I’ve just got a message from someone who has been involved in the negotiations and he’s telling me the deal has actually been agreed.

“He’s saying that the deal was actually agreed an hour ago, that tells you how long it takes for us to get the information.

“But what I’m being told is the deal was agreed within the last hour and as long as everything is done in time that Enzo Fernandez will be a Chelsea player.”

The hopes will now be that he can be a part of the squad for long enough to be settled in for Friday’s match against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
