Chelsea have the situation of Nicolas Jackson to sort out in the final few hours of the summer transfer window, with him currently back at Chelsea.

The Blues decided to recall Jackson from his expected loan move to Bayern Munich after seeing new signing Liam Delap limp off with an injury against Fulham.

Jackson was unhappy to be returning, however the situation was confused when Chelsea also chose to bring Marc Guiu back to the club from his loan at Sunderland.

It could have been thought that Newcastle could have become permanent suitors for the Senegal international following the departure of Alexander Isak, although they now seem to be advancing in a deal for Yoanne Wissa.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea have ‘top-secret’ talks over Nicolas Jackson

With it still in Jackson’s best interests to leave this summer, it has now been reported that the Bundesliga champions have been back in talks with Chelsea over a possible deal for Jackson.

Florian Plettenberg has stated that ‘top-secret’ talks have been ongoing between the two sides to get the deal back on the table.

He said: “Last night the loan deal for Nicolas Jackson and FC Bayern was officially off. It’s unbelievable, but: we’ve learned that top-secret negotiations and talks are ongoing again. Jackson deal to Bayern is back on!”

Chelsea score own goal with Guiu recall

Bringing a striker back who was expected to be playing elsewhere next season is likely just to provide cover for Joao Pedro, while Delap recovers from injury.

Rotation is likely in cup competitions, however they will not be able to fully complete this with Guiu following his exploits at Sunderland.

Guiu is cup-tied for the League Cup, meaning he will be absent for the third round tie against Lincoln City, and Pedro could have to start that game.

Enzo Maresca could also look to the youth and give Shumaira Mheuka a chance to compete for first team minutes after an electric start to the season with the U21s.
