Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to make three signings in the January transfer window, including a striker and central defender.

That is according to a report from the Evening Standard.

It claims that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add a striker, centre-back and midfielder to his squad and will hold talks with Chelsea‘s directors and possibly the club’s owners as well.

The above comes after the Argentine stated that the Blues would try to improve their team in the next transfer window after their 2-0 loss to Everton yesterday.

Chelsea were extremely active during the summer, bringing in the likes of Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson, but it does not look like Pochettino is satisfied with his squad.

What should Chelsea’s priority be?

At the top of Pochettino’s list has to be a centre-forward. If they started this season with a world-class one, their campaign would probably look a lot different.

There have been games this term where Chelsea have dominated or had good chances but have just not been able to score.

Simply put, they have not been clinical enough, which is why Pochettino needs someone like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who continues to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

But which club is going to sell their top striker in the middle of the season? You cannot think of too many.

Honestly, it would be a surprise if Chelsea could land a No.9 of that profile in the winter transfer window. It is not impossible, especially with the funds that they have, but it seems highly unlikely.

It means Pochettino may have to wait until the summer to get his centre-forward. But if Chelsea continue to lose games and drop down the Premier League table, then there is a good chance that the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss will not last that long.
