Chelsea and Inter Milan are expected to hold a new meeting over Romelu Lukaku next week once the sale of Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr has gone through.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
We have already discussed the imminent meeting when covering a story from Tutto Mercato Web – however, the reliable Italian journalist added some details about what will be said in talks between Chelsea and Inter Milan.
So, what is the latest on Romelu Lukaku? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Romano believes Inter Milan are going to ask Chelsea if they can sign the Belgian on loan again for the 2023/24 campaign, with an obligation to buy him on a permanent basis next summer.
The Italian giants will also request for the payment to be spread across instalments.
In full, Romano wrote on Twitter: “Inter are expected to contact Chelsea again next week in order to advance on Romelu Lukaku deal. New round of talks could take place after signing Brozovic deal.
“New approach expected to be for loan move with buy clause and potential payment in instalments.”

Lukaku scored 14 goals in 37 appearances last season as Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia and reached the UEFA Champions League final.
Chelsea surely won’t be happy with Inter Milan’s Lukaku plan
In our view, Chelsea won’t be happy about Inter Milan proposing another loan deal.
The Italian giants have already asked about taking Lukaku back on loan, although the Evening Standard believe Chelsea are reluctant to agree after FIFA limited the amount of players a club can have out on loan to just seven.
It is said that Chelsea do not want to waste these spots on senior players, and would prefer to use them on young talents to help their development.
Therefore – if Inter Milan do suggest another loan when returning to the negotiating table – Chelsea surely won’t be pleased.

In our view, Chelsea are right to adopt this stance.
Gems such as Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos, Lewis Hall, Angelo, Gabriel Slonina and David Datro Fofana should be put first when it comes to loan deals, rather than Lukaku.
Hopefully, Inter Milan can find the money to buy Lukaku back permanently this summer, and put an end to this transfer saga.
