Xavi has now spoken about rumours linking Neymar to Barcelona amid strong claims that Chelsea have opened talks with PSG.
The Spaniard was speaking to Jijantes FC about the Brazilian.
So, what did Xavi say about Neymar, and what are the details involving Chelsea‘s interest? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to le10sport – Chelsea have started negotiations with PSG over a deal for the South American.
If that is true, then Todd Boehly will be pleased to hear that another European giant in Barcelona are not planning to act as competition in this particular transfer saga.
Xavi said: “I’m surprised. He’s not in our plan. I really like Ney as a friend, but we have different priorities.”
Many have taken links between Neymar and Chelsea with a pinch of salt, due to his £606,000-a-week wages and the fact Chelsea are being watched by Financial Fair Play after spending roughly £600m in a year.
However, the rumours simply won’t go away.
A story from ESPN claimed that Stamford Bridge is Neymar’s most likely destination, with Julien Laurens adding on Sky Sports that Chelsea are “high” on the 31-year-old’s list of options as PSG attempt to offload him.
The Brazil international enjoyed another superb season in 2022/23 with 18 goals and 17 assists in just 29 appearances.
What Pochettino has previously said about Neymar amid Chelsea rumours
Unlike the infamous story about Thomas Tuchel disagreeing with Boehly’s desire to sign a superstar in Cristiano Ronaldo, we believe Mauricio Pochettino may actually be open to Neymar’s arrival.
The Argentine worked with the PSG No.10 in Paris, where he described him as someone who is “easy” to manage.

Pochettino told the Guardian: “It’s so easy with Neymar because you don’t need to do too much. From day one, he’s been very open to work. He’s very humble, he listens and always accepts all the instructions in a very good way. Brazilian players have something special inside.”
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as links between Chelsea and Neymar certainly aren’t fading away.
