Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana is reportedly Chelsea’s number one target to sign before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs on Twitter, the Blues are intent on signing the 21-year-old centre-back from their Premier League rivals in this window.
It is understood there’s a current offer on the table of £70million, but Thomas Tuchel’s side would be prepared to increase that bid if it’s turned down.
It’s been reported Chelsea are prepared to go as high as Leicester’s £85million asking price for Fofana if needed.
Let’s see if they can negotiate some kind of deal with tough rivals Leicester.

Fofana is Chelsea’s number one target
It sounds like this is a deal that the London club are desperate to complete and they’re willing to splash the cash for their man.
Leicester’s youngster really has got the potential to be an elite centre-back based off his short career so far, so you can see why the temptation is their to buy him.
At the same time, Leicester’s backline is going to be so much more vulnerable in this new season if they do grant Fofana’s sale. They’ve proven of the years they can be shrewd when it comes to getting value for money from their player sales.

Can’t fault ambition
Some people are questioning the personnel signed by Chelsea this summer, suggesting there’s a bit of a scattergun approach without too much thought.
However, the new ownership have invested heavily so far to bring in some very talented footballers. Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella are all new faces in the current playing squad.
You’d have to say signing Fofana would be a well thought out plan, though.
Described as “absolutely fantastic” by Frank Leboeuf, let’s hope the Leicester player ends up joining Chelsea by the end of the month.
