Chelsea do consider Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as their dream signing for the striker position.

That is according to journalist Fraser Fletcher.

The Blues have looked at Victor Osimhen, 24, as the perfect player for the No 9 role for quite some time.

However, it’ll be difficult for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to pull off a deal to sign the Napoli frontman in the January transfer window.

Fraser Fletcher wrote on X: “On Victor Osimhen – Chelsea have always loved him and had him down as top option for striker. Chelsea source told me ‘we see he is the perfect Chelsea forward’. However its a very difficult thing to get done, especially in January.”

In our view, Osimhen would be the dream signing for most clubs in the Premier League.

The Nigeria international has scored 65 goals in 111 Napoli appearances, emerging as one of the world’s top young forwards in recent seasons.

On paper, the Serie A frontman looks tailor-made for the Premier League with his pace and power. It doesn’t always work out that way for overseas players coming to England, though.

Our prediction is that Osimhen would be a high-profile player that could deal with the hype around him in a new league.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed on his YouTube channel that Chelsea head coach Pochettino will get a big say when it comes to the club’s transfer business.

Meanwhile, journalist David Ornstein told The Athletic this week that there’s a “very good chance” Chelsea sign a new striker when the January transfer window opens up.

There’s contrasting speculation about whether Osimhen is realistic for the Blues, but we’re sure no fan would turn the opportunity down if he became available. In the meantime, all eyes are Chelsea duo Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja to fight for the striker position in the next few months.
