Time may have run out for one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals to sign one of their players this transfer window.

Journalist Paul Brown recently suggested that Tottenham Hotspur could make a lowball bid for Conor Gallagher amid interest in the midfielder.

However, Alasdair Gold, speaking on his YouTube channel, says it is now unlikely that Gallagher will be joining the north London club.

Ben Jacobs claimed last month on X that Chelsea would consider a £50m offer for the 23-year-old.

He has been vital for the Blues this season, already making 28 appearances in all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino.

Conor Gallagher unlikely to leave Chelsea for Tottenham

Gold now thinks there is little chance of Tottenham signing Gallagher from Chelsea before the transfer deadline.

On the Englishman, the journalist said: “Right now, it’s looking unlikely. Let’s be honest, 23-year-old — he’s captaining Chelsea in every game at the moment, he’s playing almost every minute in every game for Chelsea right now.

“He wants to stay, Pochettino wants him to stay at Chelsea and sees him as a key part of the future at Chelsea.”

Tottenham could have chance to sign Gallagher from Chelsea in the summer

While their hopes of signing Gallagher are fading now, Tottenham could still have the opportunity to bring him in at the end of the season.

His contract expires in 2025, so if the England international does not renew soon, Chelsea could be forced to sell their midfielder in the summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

At this point, it would be a bit of a surprise to see the Blues sell someone who has been so important for them, but never say never. There are still a few days left in the window for something to happen involving Gallagher and Tottenham or another club.
