Even though Chelsea are no longer chasing to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, it turns out that he could have a direct impact on the future of one current Blues player.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, 22, has been at the heart of the transfer rumour mill this season.
The Blues were heavily linked with a move for the powerful centre-forward earlier this summer. However, Chelsea removed Sesko from their transfer shortlist after they signed English striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in June.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports via X this week that Premier League rivals Manchester United and Newcastle United are now fighting to secure Sesko’s signature, with both teams currently in talks.

RB Leipzig may target Marc Guiu to replace Benjamin Sesko
If Sesko leaves Leipzig this summer, he will leave a major hole in their squad. He scored 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for the German club.
According to Sport, Sesko is ‘almost certain’ to leave in this window amid interest from Man Utd and Newcastle.
It is explained that Leipzig have looked towards Chelsea’s Marc Guiu as a potential replacement. Apparently, the 19-year-old Blues striker fits the kind of profile they want to replace Sesko.
The report claims that Leipzig and Sunderland are the frontrunners for Guiu, who’s also received interest from Real Sociedad and Roma as well.
Sport adds that Chelsea will look to send their teenage forward out on loan for the 2025/26 campaign, where he can get the kind of regular minutes that can be difficult to find at Stamford Bridge.
Reports this week claimed that Sunderland opened talks about signing Guiu on loan as they continue to go full steam ahead in the transfer window. However, Chelsea supporters are worried about Guiu links to Sunderland because they want the Spanish frontman to go somewhere he’s guaranteed to play regularly.

Marc Guiu can have major future
It feels like a no-brainer for Guiu to go out on loan in the upcoming season, but we’re still confident that he has a big future ahead of him.
Chelsea feel Guiu was a bargain when they signed him from Barcelona a year ago.
The rapid striker scored six goals in 16 appearances across all competitions last term for the Blues, but he needs to go somewhere he can play consistently. It remains to be seen whether Leipzig or Sunderland could provide that.
It looks like Delap, Joao Pedro and Nicolas Jackson are competing to become Chelsea’s first-choice striker. We will be keeping a very close eye on Guiu’s development and progress because he’s one for the future, though.
