Chelsea target Gabri Veiga will now leave Celta Vigo as Mauricio Pochettino pushes hard to bring the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge.
That is according to Florian Plettenburg.
So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Gabri Veiga? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Express – Pochettino is desperate to have the Celta Vigo No.24 at Chelsea as Mason Mount prepares to leave Stamford Bridge, and has requested he be signed.
The Guardian add that Chelsea are expected to make a bid for Veiga soon.
Now, Plettenburg of Sky Sports has shared a significant update, stating that the 21-year-old “will leave” Celta Vigo and is ready for a new challenge elsewhere.
The journalist wrote on Twitter: “Gabri Veiga is ready for the next step now. He will leave Celta Vigo. His management is considering many options as he could become a future top player in central midfield.
“Contact and talks with Chelsea and others. Release clause of around €40m (£34m) – confirmed. Bayern is not involved.”

As you can see, Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel are not intending to get involved, which comes as a positive for Chelsea given the fact it means less competition for Veiga’s signature.
Chelsea must bid for Gabri Veiga quickly
In our view, Veiga’s services are there for the taking, and Chelsea must be quick – Barcelona and Liverpool are also said to be lurking in the background.
At a fixed £34m fee, the Spain Under-21 international represents a fantastic market opportunity for someone this summer.
Veiga also represents a significantly more attractive proposition than another Chelsea target in Romeo Lavia – for example – a player Southampton are said to want £50m for.

The Spanish wonderkid impressively scored 11 goals from central midfield in 36 La Liga appearances during the 2022/23 campaign, so he would provide Chelsea with a serious attacking threat in the middle of the park.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea could soon trigger Veiga’s release clause.
