Chelsea could watch one of their recent targets join Real Madrid in 2025 as the European champions look to strengthen their backline.
Chelsea‘s central defence is not in bad shape right now. Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are all in the Blues’ squad.
In the summer, that did not stop Chelsea from being linked with other centre-backs, though.
But after the arrival of Adarabioyo, the Blues opted against signing another centre-half, though it is a position that Renato Veiga can also play in if Enzo Maresca needs him to.

Real Madrid looking at Murillo after past Chelsea interest
Back in July, it was claimed that Murillo was a target for Chelsea when the transfer window was open.
Nothing ever happened, however, with The Guardian having reported that Nottingham Forest valued Murillo at £70m.
In 2025, though, the 22-year-old could still get a big move it seems. According to HITC, Real Madrid are now interested in adding him to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Unless Chelsea sell one of their current centre-backs, it seems unlikely that they will join any race for Murillo.
Should Chelsea challenge Real Madrid for Murillo’s signature?
Even if Chelsea do go on to lose one of their centre-halves in the new year, they should not go after Murillo, especially if he is going to cost £70m.
The departure of any of their current options would still leave Maresca with four natural centre-backs. That is four for two positions, which is just about enough.
If one is to go, then it is likely to be Disasi or Badiashile. Colwill and Fofana have been the first-choice pairing this season, with Adarabioyo appearing to be the next in line to start.
Chelsea fans actually wanted Disasi gone after hearing about Newcastle United’s interest in him towards the end of the last transfer window. They did not get their wish then, but next year could be a different story.
