‘Please’… Chelsea fans say whether club should sell Axel Disasi after Newcastle links

Chelsea only signed Axel Disasi last summer, but it already looks like there is a possibility of the central defender leaving the club.

Chelsea are not short of options in the centre-back department and are now being linked with Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are unlikely to find it difficult to sign Gomez if they really do want to bring him in before the transfer window closes.

At the same time, Disasi has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, so perhaps it could be one in, one out at Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Chelsea fans react to Axel Disasi exit rumours

According to The Athletic, Newcastle have identified Disasi as a potential alternative to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

If the Magpies do decide to make a move for Disasi and their Premier League rivals allow him to go, it does not look like every Chelsea supporter will be disappointed to see the Frenchman depart.

“Please take Disasi,” one Chelsea fan said in response to the Newcastle links.

Another supporter said: “Sell Disasi and keep [Trevoh] Chalobah.”

Another fan posted: “We should sell Disasi and welcome back Chalobah into the squad.”

Last week, journalist Simon Phillips claimed that Chelsea were open to selling Disasi this summer.

Should Chelsea sell Axel Disasi to Newcastle?

If they get a good offer for him, then the club are in a position where they can consider it.

Enzo Maresca has Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana for the centre-back spots, with the pair starting in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, while Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo can cover them.

Four centre-halves is a manageable number, while Renato Veiga is also capable of playing in central defence.

Ultimately, then, if Newcastle do make a bid for Disasi before the end of the month, it may be worth Chelsea considering it.

Disasi, himself, is also considering his future, it has been claimed. So this is certainly one to keep an eye on ahead of the transfer deadline next week.
