Report: 23-year-old Chelsea player decides he doesn’t want to leave, he’ll have to be forced out

Reports have claimed that Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has made it clear that he wants to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old will only leave the club if he is made to feel like he is surplus to requirements.

News broke yesterday that Chalobah was the subject of interest from Champions League finalists Inter Milan, who have been in regular contact with the player’s representatives.

The two clubs are already likely to be in discussions this summer over the potential transfer of Romelu Lukaku, after his loan spell in Italy comes to an end.

It feels as if Chelsea will need to sell at least one centre-back this summer, as they look to trim off the fat of the squad before Mauricio Pochettino takes his new side into next season.

Chalobah wants to stay

The return of Levi Colwill will also make things a lot more difficult for the club to keep everyone happy at the back.

Despite almost forgetting he was a Chelsea player, the Englishman is reportedly set to be an important member of the first team under the Argentine.

This then opens up the questions of who is going to be the one to be sold, with a lot of the signs pointing towards Chalobah being the sacrificial lamb.

The fact that he came through the academy and will therefore be 100% profit this summer is certain to play a part in the owners’ thinking as they weigh up their options this summer.

However, supporters will be encouraged by the fact that Chalobah is not giving up on his place where some already seem to be.

Mason Mount looks set to move on at the end of the season, with Manchester United the favourites for a deal after reportedly agreeing personal terms.
