Report: 24-year-old now 'happier than ever' at current club, after claims Chelsea want to sign him in the summer

Ousmane Dembele is reportedly loving life at Barcelona right now.

According to Sport, the Frenchman feels ‘happier than ever’ to be part of Xavi’s squad.

This might come as a major shock to the footballing community, considering the situation Dembele found himself in only last month.

The dammned Dembele

The 24-year-old had been cast aside by Barca, the board and their manager, following failed talks over renewing his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

Xavi removed him completely from two matchday set-ups in January, seemingly as a punishment for playing with the club’s patience.

It seemed the attacker had made his final appearance for the La Liga side, as they attempted to ship him off in the winter window.

Conversations with foreign suitors apparently went up to the very last minute, talks that traced over to Chelsea, who at one point were ‘front of the queue’ for his signature, claimed Sky Sports journalist Gary Cotterill on deadline day.

Nothing materialised between Dembele and the Champions League holders, yet the links did not diminish completely.

Dean Jones suggested that the Blues are confident they can sign the speedy forward when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

Ousmane a happy man

However, it appears Dembele has not been completely distracted by all this commotion.

In fact, Sport make out that the France international is totally enjoying his time at the Camp Nou once again.

They state that the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lifted his spirits considerably, due to their pair’s previous connection at Borussia Dortmund.

This is despite the Barca fans responding to Dembele’s name with a chorus of boos at one of their recent home matches.

Perhaps the newfound positivity within the camp is helping drown out all the outside noise.

Although there haven’t been any fresh indications that Dembele will extend his Catalonian stay, at least he’s making the most of his final farewell.
