Reports have claimed that former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is now the subject of interest from the Premier League.

According to ESPN, Barcelona’s ominous financial situation could see them forced to part ways with players, even if they have been important this season.

Christensen certainly fits into this category, with him elevating his game since his contract at Chelsea expired last summer.

Despite a disappointing campaign in Europe that now sees them out of both the Champions League and Europa League, they have come to play when it comes to league action.

They currently sit 12 points clear at the top of the table following their dramatic 2-1 win over Real Madrid.

This match saw the controversy surrounding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang come to a head, when he was spotted celebrating his former side’s win in the dressing room just one day after the Blues were held by Everton.

Christensen wanted by Premier League sides

This has reportedly seen his relations at Stamford Bridge deteriorate even more, with him not expected to return to the pitch anytime soon.

As for Christensen however, he reportedly has a chance of being seen in England again just 12 months after he left for Spain.

It is so far unclear if Chelsea are one of the English sides interested in a deal, however they will be fully aware of his talents after numerous years with him as a starter.

He formed a strong connection at the back with Antonio Rudiger, which made it even worse when the duo both left after their contracts expired before this season.

Their importance can perhaps best be shown by the money the Blues have spent since their departures in replacing them.

Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Benoit Badiashile have all been signed for big money in an attempt to maintain dominance at the back.
