Report: ’50-goal’ Chelsea target admired by Tuchel, expected to move this summer

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly a massive fan of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski

According to ESPN, the German believes the Polish international would be a raging success if he chose to move to Chelsea this summer.

Lewandowski has enjoyed a stellar few years at Bayern, putting up Balon d’Or numbers and performances as his club won the Champions League in 2020.

Last season, he scored more goals than games played, notching up 50 in all competitions in just 46 appearances.

These kinds of numbers are perhaps underrated with the regularity of the 33-year-old, however reports suggest he is ready for a challenge away from the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski openly claimed he is seeking for a move away from the Allianz Arena, with Chelsea reportedly showing an interest in the deal.

With Romelu Lukaku’s reported imminent exit to Inter Milan, the club were apparently keen to bring in another recognised and proven number nine in attempt to solve their goalscoring issues.

ESPN state the Polish international is admired by Tuchel, claiming it would be something of a masterplan for him to come in to replace the Belgian.

However, the Blues are up against it in the hunt this summer, with Barcelona openly interested in a move for the former Borussia Dortmund striker.

The player himself has made it clear he intends to move to the Catalan side if the two clubs can agree a deal.

Lewandowski would be a no-brainer if the deal was available for the club. Statement signings to announce your arrival as owners of a club don’t come much bigger than the Bayern man.

However, Barcelona look just too far ahead in the deal to make it a viable option, so the Blues should look elsewhere in their quest for reinforcements up top, with a signing like Gabriel Jesus seemingly more available.
