Reports from Spain have claimed that Barcelona are interested in launching a move for Marcus Thuram.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side will only be able to bring the 25-year-old in if it is at the end of the season, while the Blues are pushing for a deal this month.

The France international is entering the final few months of his deal with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach. There’s currently no expectation that he will extend his stay there.

The striker is enjoying a sensational season with the side, scoring 10 and assisting three in 15 Bundesliga games so far this season.

He only sits behind RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku in the goalscoring charts in Germany this season.

The Blues seem in desperate need to address the striker position going forwards, with them in desperate need of goals this season.

Thuram wanted by Barcelona

Armando Broja has been ruled out of the rest of the campaign due to injury, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s conduct of late has potetntially put his future in jeaopardy.

With Kai Havertz recently impressing behind the striker, it seems only right that they add to their ranks with someone to play in front of him.

Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Chelsea seem the best placed team to sign him in January, with Monchengladbach keen to get some money for their star player.

Thuram has already been praised by current Blue Denis Zakaria, who described him as ‘phenomenal’ during their time together at the German side.

The Switzerland international will be hoping that his time at Stamford Bridge is extended, with him only currently being at the club on loan.

However, his performances since the World Cup break have been arguably the strongest of any Chelsea player, putting him in the conversation to start every game.
