Reports have claimed that AC Milan are considering launching a move to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Champions League side are interested in the Senegal international in an attempt to find a short-term option to feature at Stamford Bridge.

After what had been a sensational first season at Stamford Bridge, Mendy’s fortunes have certainly taken a turn for the worse.

In what was an unfathomable situation just 12 months ago, the 30-year-old has fallen out of favour with the manager in terms of starting.

While Thomas Tuchel held the faith during his reign, Graham Potter has leaned on Kepa Arrizabalaga for the majority of his games in charge.

Mendy wanted by Milan

The Spain international was handed the chance after Mendy picked up an injury at the start of the former Brighton man’s time in charge, and put on some outstanding displays after being brought back in from the cold.

This has led to rumours that the goalkeeper is looking to leave the club, not committing his future to playing in West London.

Calcio Mercato have claimed that the current Serie A champions are interested in handing him a way out of the club, and a route back into regular starting football.

He will be featuring for a side currently in the Champions League too. After finishing second in a group that contained the Blues, the Italian side will now face Tottenham in the first knockout round.

The Blues may be involved in future transfer business with the Serie A side too. They are reportedly keen on a deal to sign Rafael Leao, who they got a first-hand viewing of in their clashes earlier this season.

While they will have been impressed with what they saw, the defensive abilities of Reece James on display in both games will have grabbed more of the attention.
