Chelsea target David Raya is going to cost around £40million to sign from Brentford this summer, according to reports.

Sky Sports claims that Premier League side Brentford value their goalkeeper David Raya at £40million going into the summer transfer window.

The report explains that the Bees are looking at several keepers they could sign to replace Raya, but they’re likely to stand firm with their asking price before selling him.

In fairness, the 27-year-old’s been one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in the Premier League during the past two seasons. He’s very much a modern keeper that is superb playing out from the back, too.

We’ve heard recent speculation that Brentford’s number one is someone on Chelsea’s radar for the summer.

Journalist Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport in March that Chelsea may be interested in signing Raya.

The Spain international has gone the route of playing League One and Championship football before establishing himself as a Premier League regular.

In our view, the Brentford star definitely deserves to be in the conversation for a high-profile transfer.

In addition, journalist Ben Jacobs told CaughtOffside last month that Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has spoken with Raya during a Spain camp about a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea goalkeepers Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga have both had a fair crack in net during the past couple of years, but it may be time for an upgrade next season.

We know that both can be fantastic on their day. As it stands, Kepa is the man in possession of the number one shirt.

However, most supporters aren’t fully convinced by them and you always feel like a mistake may be just around the corner.

It would be great for Chelsea to settle and feel comfortable with their first-choice goalkeeper, which is a hallmark of pretty much any successful side to ever exist.
