Reports have claimed that Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.

According to 90min, the La Liga side are hopeful of recuperating more than £100m of the fee they paid to sign him back in 2019.

It has been reported during the World Cup that the 23-year-old is wanting to move away from the Spanish side, where it could be argued he hasn’t lived up to the hype that followed him there.

However, he has shown more than enough glimpses during the international tournament that he is a player with real quality.

Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes described him as ‘quality’ when discussing his club form earlier this year, but he will have been far more pleased with his displays at the World Cup despite the quarter-final exit.

Chelsea offered Felix

Speculation that his time at the Wanda Metropolitano is coming to an end will no doubt have put a number of the world’s elite sides on notice.

90min have claimed this includes Chelsea, who have been offered the chance to make him their record signing in history.

Rumours of strengthening their frontline have run rampant regarding the Stamford Bridge side, given how goals are still very much a luxury for Graham Potter as they were for Thomas Tuchel.

They are reportedly close to confirming the signing of Christopher Nkunku. However, he will almost certainly be a summer addition given the terms of the pre-agreement.

They are also strongly linked to a move for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao. Reports today have claimed that they have had their first bid to sign the fellow Portugal star rejected, after he’s began to hesitate over signing his new contract.

With Felix not necessarily a natural striker that the Blues are crying out for, it is difficult to imagine it would be a perfect signing.
