Xavier Simons is reportedly on the verge of calling time on his Chelsea career for good.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, Hull City are in talks with the Blues to sign Simons permanently, having initially taken him on loan for the season.

The 19-year-old joined the Championship side over the summer along with fellow academy graduate Harvey Vale.

Both struggled to cement a spot in the Hull first-team, leading Vale to return to Cobham earlier in the month.

Yet, Simons has stayed put, a position he appears to be settled upon for the near future at least.

He has only played six times for the Tigers this season, but manager Liam Rosenior seems to have plans for the teenager.

Rosenior might look to use the midfielder more often between now and the campaign’s conclusion, especially as his side’s results have improved recently.

A run of one defeat from eight league games has moved Hull away from the relegation zone and closer to mid-table.

Xavier Simons is set to leave Chelsea

Simons will hope to be a part of a successful survival mission, as he prepares for life without Chelsea.

It’s pretty much all he’s known since his move to South West London in 2016.

Originally part of the set-up at Brentford, the England youth international headed across the capital to become a blue.

Coincidently, his senior Chelsea debut came against the Bees in the Carabao Cup last term.

After the 2-0 victory over Brentford, Simons earned praise from Stamford Bridge legend Petr Cech.

“For them it was definitely a special moment they enjoyed and they did really well,” remarked Cech, who also watched Vale and Jude Soonsup-Bell make their maiden appearance for the first-team that night.

The iconic goalkeeper might’ve watched Simons and Soonsup-Bell for the last time in his beloved club’s colours, with the latter reportedly on the verge of signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
