Chelsea are now reportedly concerned about their chances of signing Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
According to 90min, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy ‘fear’ they may lose out to Real Madrid in the race for the Monaco midfielder’s signature.
Tchouameni the top target
As the transfer window looms closer, the rumours regarding Tchouameni have started to ramp up again.
He is very much on the radar of Europe’s elite, following another fine season in France.
The 22-year-old made 50 appearances across all competitions, the third highest in the Monaco squad.
Didier Deschamps also capped him eight times for the national team, adding further value to the already expensive gem that shines before us.
Hence why there is such demand for the France international from all corners of the continent.
Along with Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid are all apparently chasing after Tchouameni’s services.
But who will persuade the young superstar to join their expensive ranks?
Chelsea concerned about Tchouameni
Well, 90min suggest both English clubs believe their Spanish counterpart could be the lucky winners in the pursuit of the Monaco player.,
After missing out on Kylian Mbappe, Madrid are apparently fixated on making Tchouameni their major signing for the year.
Having already won La Liga, Carlo Ancelotti’s employers may also be able to use the lure of another Champions League trophy if they defeat Liverpool in the final on Saturday.
Yet, it might come down to who can fling the most money in Monaco’s direction.
Los Blancos are hoping to pay just £33m (90min), but the Ligue 1 outfit seemingly want £50m instead.
At the moment, Chelsea cannot hand over either fee until Todd Boehly officially take his place at the top of the pile.
Boehly’s reign as the new owner still hasn’t fully begun, despite the American attending several home matches and meeting with Thomas Tuchel in person.
Once his supremacy starts, then new signings can be considered.
However, by then, Tchouameni could be in the grasps of Madrid.
